Top Songs of 2010 Pt. 3

Well my lovely readers, today's post will feature my remaining favorite songs of the year. This post will focus on songs by artists who have been around a little while, but still manage to put out amazing hits!

Love the Way You Lie by Eminem ft. Rhianna

When I first heard this song I was just thinking "eh that's ok". The more I heard it the more I loved it! Living in Michigan, you hear Eminem a lot so that means I love it A LOT!!!! Eminem's angsty, angry voice paired with Rhianna's nice, sweet vocals sound great together. These two need to collaborate again in the near future for sure! Many people were complaining about the video and the song saying that it promotes domestic violence, but I am pretty sure some people will find anything and everything Eminem does offensive. Be sure to check out Love The Way You Lie pt. 2 by Rhianna featuring Eminem too!!

Not Afraid by Eminem

Honestly I downloaded this song onto my Ipod when I heard it because I love me some Eminem, but didn't listen to it too often. Shortly after I saw him perform it on the MTV VMA's and realized how good of a song it really was. My favorite lyric: "And I just can't keep living this way. So starting today, I'm breaking out of this cage. I'm standing up, Imma face my demons. I'm manning up Imma hold my ground. I've had enough, now I'm so fed up. Time to put my life back together right now".

Times Like These by Kid Rock

Like I mentioned previously, I'm from Michigan. Therefore, I love celebs that are from Michigan and aren't afraid to admit it. Like Eminem, Kid Rock is loyal to his hometown. This song is definitely Michigan's current anthem. When I saw the above performance on the AMA's I had to rewind it a couple of times just to look at all the pictures in the background again and actually listen to the words. Great song! Especially for fellow Michiganders! If you watch the video, you will see a picture that says "God, Help us Save Flint". Let me tell you, being that I work in Flint it definitely needs saving by someone! Amazing song!!!

Back to December by Taylor Swift

I will be honest. I love Taylor Swift music. I am aware it all kind of sounds the same, but I love it anyways. Rumor has it this song is about her breakup with Taylor Lautner. I was actually upset to hear they broke up since they were so cute together. Listening to the lyics of this song, it seems as if she is the one that ended it. All I can say is "Are you fricking crazy girl?!?!" Have you seen that boys abs?!?! Oh yea, I am also glad he is actually 18 now so I don't feel like a perv for finding him attractive :)

Temporary Home by Carrie Underwood

Loved her on American Idol, and still love her all these years later. This girl puts out hit after hit and doesn't stop. This song is a little sad, and the video makes it even sadder. Perfect little country song :).

Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys

Well I love me some New York City and this is the pefect little anthem for it. Of course Frank Sinatra also had a great anthem, but I guess all these years later it was time for another one. Jay-Z did a great job with this one. I want to go back to New York every time I hear this song. (I know this song is technically from 2009, but I really don't care :) ).

Young Forever by Jay-Z

Am I wrong or didn't Jay-Z retire a couple years ago? I love how musicians and athletes call it "retiring" when they want a break for a year or two. Well that little break seems to have helped Jay-Z since he put out hit after hit in the past year or so. Not that he wasn't putting out hits before then, but the two songs I've posted are on my top favorites list of his for sure! He really seems to like using black and white in his videos doesn't he? Love this song because really, who doesn't want to be forever young? The older I get, the more I miss the days when I was younger. "May the best of your todays be the worst of your tomorrows". LOVE IT!!

Once again, 2010 was a great year for music, in my opinion. The newbies and the vets both had an amzing year! My wish for music in 2011...Justin Timberlake release another album. I know you're all into the acting now JT, but seriously you know how to make a hit too!

What were some of your favorite songs of the year???

Top Songs of 2010 Pt. 2

I hope you all enjoyed part one of my favorite songs of 2010. This post focuses on songs by artists who broke through in 2010. Some may have been around previously, but they didn't come through as much as they did this year. Enjoy!!

Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars
Well hello Bruno Mars! You sure made your mark on 2010. Not only did Bruno have two hit songs of his own, he also lent his nice voice to "Billionaire" and "Nothin on You", and co-wrote Cee Lo Green's "F*ck You" from my previous post. This song has to be on the top 10 list for most overplayed this year, but I still LOVE it every time I hear it. The music video is pretty cute too! Never actually seen it before I posted it here :)

Grenade by Bruno Mars
Seriously, Bruno Mars really put himself on the map in 2010. Following up his smash hit (featured above), he released his second AMAZING single. Kudos to your amazing year Bruno Mars (minus that little arrest of yours). Hope to hear much more from you in 2011!!!

Billionaire by Travie McCoy
I really like this song. Seriously who doesn't wanna be a billionaire so freaking bad?!? Entry # 3 that features Bruno Mars by the way. Travie McCoy is pretty good too though ( who by the way was in Gym Class Heroes for those who didn't know).

All Roads Lead Home by Golden State
Well apparently this song is actually from 2008, but since I just discovered it this year I am including it in this list. Seriously, seriously LOVE IT!!!!

Airplanes by B.O.B featuring Haley Williams

Another one of my favorite songs this year!! Also love the remix that features Eminem. B.O.B also had a pretty good year. He had a hit with, who else, Bruno Mars with "Nothin On You" and also "Magic". Hope to hear more from you in 2011 also B.O.B.!!!

Need You Now by Lady Antebellum

Well this little country group sure did blow up this year didn't they. This song was played on every station this summer. Top 40, country, adult contemporary, etc. They also walked away with many awards this year, mainly for this song. Love this one along with their previous one "I Run To You" and their new one "Hello World". I also love the fact that both the males and female sing leads in this group. I will be waiting for more from them also!

If I Die Young by The Band Perry

I actually first heard this song on one of the lovely blogs that I follow and fell in love with it. Kind of a sad little tune, but still pretty great. My favorite lyric "A penny for my thoughts, oh no I'll sell em for a dollar. They're worth so much more after I'm a goner. And maybe then you'll hear the words I've been singing. Funny when you're dead, how people start listening."

There you have it. My favorite songs from 2010's Breakout Artists. I am aware that little Justin Bieber was also huge, but I would have to give the award for Breakout Artist of the year to Bruno Mars!!! What were some of your favorite songs from new artists this year??

Stay tuned to the next installment, my favorite songs from veteran artists!!

YouTube Tuesday!!

I saw this on someones facebook and just had to share it. Gotta love the innocence of children. No filter between their brain and mouth lol. However, don't you wish you could act like this when you opened something you didn't really like! Enjoy!!

Top Songs of 2010 Pt.1

Can you believe this is my second post in the last three days? I can't either!! This post will focus on SOME of my favorite songs from 2010. There will be more than one part to this as I liked many songs this year. Great year for music in my opinion. Today's post will feature the songs that are just oh so catchy I can't help but sing along everytime I hear them, whether they are overplayed or not!

OMG by Usher

When I first heard this song I wasn't a fan. Then the more I heard it I loved it. A few weeks later I was sick of it again, and now I love it again. It was overplayed for sure, but this song put Usher back on the map this year, with a little help from will.i.am. Oh and the fact that he titled it OMG just makes me laugh!

Cooler Than Me by Mike Posner

New artist Mike Posner had a hit with this single. Once again, overplayed, but hard to not start singing along when I hear it!

F*ck You by CeeLo Green

I featured this song as one of my "Weekly Song Wednesday" picks. Never heard anything by CeeLo before, but I LOVE his voice. Oh yea and I learned that he used to be in Gnarls Barkley. Guess I had heard him before after all. Not a radio friendly song, so they had to change the radio version to "Forget You", but still great! Looking forward to hearing more from him! I wanted to post the original version, but didn't want to offend anyone, so be sure to check it out on YouTube!!

Raise Your Glass by Pink

Haven't heard too many songs that I love by Pink lately until this song came along. Great beat, great lyrics, and a perfect song for these times with all of the bullying in schools lately. Also love that she says "Whats the dealio" because my friends and I totally used to say that all the time back in high school! Thanks for giving me a reason to raise my glass Pink!

Firework by Katy Perry

Just like "Raise Your Glass" this song also has a great message for teens, perfect for these times. Love it! Oh and the fact that it is featured in the "Just Dance 2" game commercial makes me soo want to buy that game, because it looks so darn fun!

Hey, Soul Sister by Train

This is probably the song that I am most sick of, yet can't NOT sing it when I hear it. NIce comeback by you also this year Train! Apparently this song is from 2009, but I honestly don't remember hearing it until this year therefore, it counts :).

That concludes part one. I don't actually know how many parts there will be, but stay tuned!! Oh and I LOVE comments so feel free to leave me one telling me what you think of my picks! Also feel free to leave suggestions for the next part :)

Top Reality TV Moments of 2010

It's that time of year folks. The end of the year is approaching faster than I imagined and that means time for a recap of 2010 in various areas. For the next few entries, I will be posting my favorites of 2010 in numerous categories. This entry will focus on "Reality TV Moments". Now we all know there are a bazillion reality TV shows out there these days and of course nobody can watch them all. Therefore this list just features MY favorite moments for the reality shows I actually do watch. So, in no particular order, here we go:

Lee Dewyze Wins American Idol
Well lets face it folks, this season of Idol was not the best by any means. Simon judged his last season, Ellen became the funny, yet very questionable, new judge, and the talent wasn't very talented. However, Lee Dewyze was one of my favs from the beginning and his reaction when waiting for Ryan to announce the winner and then when he found out he won was just great. You could tell he didn't think he would win at all and the fact that he looked like he was going to throw up on the stage and then pass out was just priceless. It is very sad that he has had no promotion whatsoever for his album and I have yet to even hear his single on the radio. I honestly don't hold out much hope for this season of Idol, but I guess we will see!

Phil Harris dies on Deadliest Catch

If you are a reader of my blog, than you know about my recent addiction to Deadliest Catch. In my opinion, one of the best reality shows around and this season was also one of the saddest. Fan favorite Captain Phil Harris suffered a massive stroke during this season's fishing season and later died. Apparently Phil requested that they continue filming while in the hospital and thus, we all go to see the heartbreaking reactions of his sons and fellow captains when he died. Hands down, the saddest moment of reality TV I have ever seen.

Ali chooses Roberto on The Bachelorette

I recently began watching "The Bachelor/ Bachelorette" series and have to admit it is one of my guilty pleasures. On this season's Bachelorette, Ali was the lucky girl to get to choose her Prince Charming. I did have a problem with her being the Bachelorette since she CHOSE to leave the show when she was on Jake's season of the Bachelor, but it could have been much worse so I learned to live with it :). After numerous rose ceremonies elimination some crazy, some cute guys, Ali finally chose adorable Roberto. I absolutely loved him from the beginning and had a very strong feeling that she would end up picking him in the end. I was very happy to learn I was right. Oh, on a side note, all the clips of the actual proposal were copyrighted, which is why I had to insert the above clip instead. We did get to see how sickeningly cute they are together though.

Jackie Evancho Amazes on America's Got Talent

Jackie was featured on the YouTube episode of AGT and basically stole the show from there. The 10 year old had both the looks and the voice of an angel. While opera is not my favorite genre of music, this little girl has an amazing voice and talent. I was actually happy that Michael Grimm won the show, but she has a future ahead of her for sure!

Some of my other top moments of 2010 from reality tv include:
Jake picking and then a few months later breaking up with Vienna (I never could stand that girl!)
The finale episodes of both the spring and fall seasons of "Biggest Loser". I am always amazed at how great everyone looks!
Kate Gosselin FINALLY (although way too late) getting voted off of "Dancing with the Stars".

Sorry for the lack of videos for the above moments, but YouTube didn't have any :(

What were some of your favorite moments from Reality TV 2010??

Weekly Song Wednesday!!

Weekly Song Wednesday has returned!!! For this week at least :). After watching the addictive "Deadliest Catch" marathon that Discovery channel so nicely put on this past weekend, I was reminded of such a great song! I had never heard this song or even heard of this band before "Deadliest Catch", but I LOVE it now!! The song is called "All Roads Lead Home" and its by the band Golden State. Give it a listen and let me know what you think!!
