"My 5 Monday" Most Memorable TV News Events

Wow it has been almost 2 months since I have updated. That's just crazy!! I am back now though with a brand new "My 5 Monday". This week I will be counting down the TV news events that I remember most clearly. Now let me inform you all that I am 27 so I do not remember many important events such as the JFK or MLK assassination, landing on the moon, or anything that happened before 1995 basically since I was not born or very young still. With that being said, here are My 5:

Most Memorable TV News Events

5. President Obama Inaguration

Ok so let's be honest here, whether you love him or hate him, watching Obama being sworn in as President was definetly a historical moment. Go back 40 or 50 years and nobody ever thought they would see a black man become President of the United States. Clearly this was history in the making and nobody can say otherwise.

4. Princess Diana's Car Accident

I honestly remember coming home from the grocery store on a Saturday night when I was 13 and seeing the news about Princess Diana whenever I turned on the TV. Pretty sure this is the first major news event I can remember seeing on TV and I still remember exactly where I was when I found out.

3. Death (and funeral) of Michael Jackson

I remember being at Kohls and receiving a text message from CNN informing me that Michael Jackson had died. I couldn't believe it. As much controvesry that followed him, he without a doubt was one of the greatest artists of all time. I didn't really care for him too much before he died because of all the controversy, but I still love his music. Oh and seeing his daughter speak at his funeral was just heart breaking!

2. Bin Laden Dead

Once again I found out about this news event via text. As soon as I received it I remember turning the TV on to watch the news unfold live. I clearly remember it being a Sunday night and watching the coverage until about 1 in the morning. I knew I would be tired for work the next morning, but I just couldn't stop watching.

1. September 11, 2001

Well this is clearly the most memorable event to me and most likely everyone that is old enough to remember. I remember watching as the buildings collapsed in my trig class my senior year. Being I was only 17, I still didn't fully understand what was happening. As the day went on though I became much more aware how major this was. I am certain I will never forget 9/11/01. I'm sure the rest of the country won't either.

What are some memorable TV news events for you??

My 5 Monday

Well I almost didn't do a "My 5 Monday" for this week, but while watching the Golden Globes, I was able to think of a topic. This weeks "My 5 Monday" is "Movies I Really Need/Want to Watch". Now before I go any further, don't worry, most of these movies are not "Golden Globe" worthy (apparently). While watching these awards, I decided that the Hollywood Foreign Press and I have completely different opinions on what movies are "good" . With the exception of a very few, I have no desire to see many of the nominated films. Actually, I generally never agree with the Oscar or Golden Globe best picture nominees. For some reason they are obsessed with movies that take place hundreds of years ago. Not exactly my cup of tea! Before I get started with my list, let me just say this weekend I watched this movie

friends with Benefits Pictures, Images and Photos
and absolutely loved it. I actually preferred this one over "No Strings Attached" which is the same plot, but I guess I prefer JT to Ashton. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet. Now on to this weeks list:

1. Bridesmaids
bridesmaids Pictures, Images and Photos
Uber popular movie of the summer and I hear its actually LOL hilarious. Really need to see this one soon. I actually don't own this one yet, so looks like I will need to Redbox it.

2. Water for Elephants
water for elephants movie poster Pictures, Images and Photos
My friends seem to think this is the best movie ever, so I guess I will have to finally watch it. Didn't seem to appealing to me when I first saw the previews, but I have heard nothing but good things about it. Also, I picked it up on Black Friday for a great price, so I might as well actually watch it right?

3. 50/50
50/50 Pictures, Images and Photos
This movie actually is nominated for a Golden Globe, so maybe I won't like it after all. Seems pretty good though and the fact that its in the COMEDY category leads me to believe he doesn't die in the end. I have a feeling I am wrong about that theory though.

4. Remember Me
I bought this movie shortly after it came out on DVD and was so excited to watch it. Somehow I still haven't watched it though. I recently heard my co-workers talking about this one though and they were saying good things so thats a plus. I think this will be the next movie I actually sit down to watch.

5. Country Strong
Country Strong Pictures, Images and Photos
Picked this movie up on Black Friday also. Got a good deal on this one too, so at least if I don't end up liking it, I'm not out too much money.

Have you seen any of the movies mentioned above??? Are there any that aren't at all worth watching?? Let me know!!!

My 5 Monday!!! Favorite American Idol Performances

It's the return of "My 5 Monday"!!!! Yay!!!! I am doing pretty well with my "blog more" resolution if I do say so myself! So I had a hard time coming up with a topic for this weeks "My 5", so I decided with American Idol getting ready to start soon, I would do MY 5 Favorite American Idol performances. Now I am going to be honest and say I wasn't too excited with anyone these past couple of seasons so none of my picks are from the last couple years. While recalling all my favorite contestants, I found it was very hard to narrow it down to just 5. A lot of my faves were good every week, but I just picked one from each of them. Oh and I tried not to pick the most common ones that all the critics rave about either. So here we go, MY 5 Favorite AI Performances:

1. Kris Allen- To Make You Feel My Love
When Kris Allen was first seen by America, he was basically an unknown. We saw about 1.5 secs of him in his audition and then a couple mins of him in Hollywood week.  When he first performed for votes with "Man in the Mirror", I LOVED it and thought he was absolutely adorable, but didn't have much hope of him getting through since they were only advancing three people from that night. Well obviously everyone else loved him too, and as we all know he went on to win the entire season. Now many people will say their fave performances from him were "Heartless" or "Ain't No Sunshine". I loved these ones too, but my most favorite by Kris was "To Make You Feel My Love". LOVED IT!!!! I tried to insert the actual performance video, but the embedding was disabled, so I had to go with the studio version. If you forgot, how great the actual performance was, I recommend you YouTube it now :). Oh and Kris has to be the most adorable contestant in the show's history.

2. Chris Daughtry- What a Wonderful World
Well we all know Chris should've won his season, but clearly losing didn't hurt him at all. Of course I loved all of Chris' performances, but I think my faves were when he left his comfort zone. "What a Wonderful World" really showed a different side to him, and I thought it was great! In a close second, was his peformance of "Suspicious Minds".

3. Elliot Yamin- If I Can Dream
Well after Chris got voted off, Elliot was the only hope for saving Season 5, but of course he got voted off right after Chris and Taylor Hicks won (WTF?!). Elliot definetly had my votes, but clearly Taylor seemed to have the vote support. I basically loved everything this guy did, but I guess this would have to be my favorite from him. Too many good ones of his to choose from though!

4. David Archuleta- And So It Goes
Little David had a lot of memorable performances on the show, "Imagine" was probably the most talked about, which is why I didn't pick it. I loved his verson of "Angels" too, but I actually loved when he did this song, especially the acapella part at the beginning. I had forgotten that Paula had picked this song for him until watching the clip, so kudos to her for once.

5. Jason Castro- Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Well I just LOVED his performance of this song. I got it on my ipod and I still listen to it pretty frequently. Oh and I also found a version similar to this one by Kris Allen so I loved that one too. Great version of this song, perfection by Jason!!! Also loved "Hallelujah" when he did it. Nice, smooth voice he has!

Honorable Mentions

Lakisha Jones- "And I'm Telling You"
Can't forget the hometown girl LaKisha!! I remember when I first saw this performance, they showed her interview before and I saw she was from Flint, MI. After I saw that, all I was thinking was "please don't suck"!! Well clearly she didn't, she just blew everyone away with this performance. Great way to start off!! Also loved her version of Bon Jovi's "This Ain't A Love Song". (Youtube that too!!)

Matt Giraud- Who's Loving You
I'd have to say, I am glad that Matt didn't make it through initally and got brought back for the Wild Card show. Not only did he open up a spot for my guy Kris Allen to get through, but he also got to do this performance. Absolutely love it!!! Oh and he is also from Michigan so that makes it even better!!

So there you have it! My favorite performances from Idol history. Like I said, the last few seasons haven't really blown me away, so hopefully this season has some people that make my all time fave list!

My 5 Monday!!! - Fave things of 2011!

Wow it has been a long time!!! I hope I actually still have people that read my actual posts!! Well I thought it was about time to do some year in review posts so what better way to start than with "My 5 Monday"!! This week I will be discussing my 5 favorite discoveries of 2011. These may be brand new things from this year, or they could be a few years old, but I just recently discovered them! Enjoy!!

1. iPhone 4S

iPhone 4S Pictures, Images and Photos

This is the first iPhone I have ever owned. I have had ATT for as long as I can remember, but I just now got the iPhone. I figured if I was going to wait as long as I did to get it, I might as well get the newest one right? Let me just say, I LOVE it. I seriously discover something new just about every day. There really is an app for everything!! You want to reward me for walking into stores Shopkick app? Alright I will accept! You want to provide me with basically a free GPS system, Mapquest app? I will accept!! Oh and don't even get me started on my addiction to Words with Friends (which is actually Scrabble with a diff name!). Siri is pretty cool too. She answers most of my questions and the ones she doesn't now the answer to, she apologizes. I actually ask her random things every now and then just to see what she says :). I love you iPhone!!

2. The Big Bang Theory

bbt Pictures, Images and Photos

Yes I am aware this show has been on for, I believe, five seasons now. However, I just started watching it recently (gotta love syndication!!). It is becoming my new favorite show though!! It takes a lot to knock out Friends, but this one may be coming close to it (actually nothing really beats Friends, but this one isn't far behind). I don't know what the heck they are talking about a good amount of time, but somehow it still entertains me greatly. This show actually makes me laugh out loud. Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, and their friends that dress like they are from "That 70's Show", are just too funny!! If you have yet to see it, I HIGHLY recommend it!!!

3. Social Network

I am aware that this movie came out last year. I also am aware that it was nominated for multiple Oscars. Still, I was hesitant to believe that a movie about Facebook could actually entertain me. I was wrong. It started out slow, but once Justin Timberlake entered the scene, it got a lot better (as do most things). Like "The Big Bang Theory", I don't know what the heck they are saying sometimes, but that doesn't seem to stop me from watching it and being intrigued. Pretty cool to see how Facebook actually got started too! Once again, I recommend watching!!

4. The Voice

Watch out American Idol, The Voice is right in your rear view mirror! This show first caught my interest with the previews and the fact that they had FOUR current, popular singers as judges. I mean American Idol got better this season, but Steven Tyler is a little dated isn't he?? The Voice judges consist of Adam Levine from Maroon 5, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilara, and Blake Shelton. All pretty big names in their respectable genres. Add in the fact that everyone can sing pretty darn well and you have an amazing show! Of course the concept of the show is for the judges to pick their teams based on voice alone and not on looks. Looks and personality can of course play a part in the later rounds, but they were originally picked on their voices, and all the contestants this year were great. Javier Colon was the winner of this season (who you can check out below...AMAZING!!!). The show will be back for a second season this winter, premiering after the Super Bowl. Can't get a better lead in than that now can you??

5. Detroit Tigers

Detroit Tigers Pictures, Images and Photos

So I am obsessed with the Detroit Tigers, and this season they did not disappoint. They started out a little slow, but had a fantastic second half. They made it to the playoffs, beat the Yankees in the first round before getting knocked out in a tooth and nail fight by the Texas Rangers. MY Tiger, Justin Verlander, had an amazing season himself, which included a no hitter. He ended the season by winning both the Cy Young award and the AL MVP. He will also be gracing the cover of MLB 2K12 next year, which I will be buying for that reason alone. Looking forward to next season!!!

So there you have it, my completely random list of favorite things from 2011. What were some of your favorite things of the year, be it new things from 2011, or things you just discovered in 2011? Let me know in the comments, that way I will know people actually read this thing still!!!

My 5 Monday! Favorite Superbowl Commercials!

It's the return of "My 5 Monday"! For this week at least :). So every year during the Superbowl, everyone looks forward to the commercials. Now I myself pretty much only pay attention to commercials during the Superbowl. Most other times I will channel surf just so I don't have to watch them. Every year there are some great commercials during the game, and this year didn't disappoint. Even though I like multiple ones, I will play by the rules (that I basically made up) and narrow it down to 5!

1. Chrysler
So I love me some Eminem and I am from Michigan so I love anything that features Michigan in a positive light. Therefore when I saw this commercial it instantly became my favorite of the night. Completely, 100% true too!

2. Best Buy
Let me just say Ozzy Osbourne cracks me up. I used to watch his show on MTV and it would always make me laugh. When I saw this commercial I actually laughed out loud and it became my favorite of the night...until the Chrysler one and then it became a close second. My favorite part: "What's a Bieber?!" The above video is actually an extended version and therefore funnier than the one I saw originally!

3. Teleflora
Well this commercial just made me laugh. Seriously!

4.Doritos
So Doritos had multiple commericals throughout the Superbowl. The dog one was cute, the finger licking guy one was creepy, but this one was just funny. I had multiple goldfish die when I was younger and if I knew that sprinkling Doritos into the bowl would bring them back to life I would've done it :)

5. NFL Fans
Okay this commerical I just loved. How they were able to get all these old and new TV show clips and edit them so they are all wearing football clothing with football items in the background  just amazes me. LOVED IT!!

So somehow I was able to narrow it down to just 5 great commericals even though there were many more including the Bridgestone, Darth Vader child, and the truck that was supposed to be Lassie just to name a few.

I also loved the intro:

and of course you have to have this:

My 5 Monday!

So before I announce this week's topic, let me admit one thing: I am a fast food junkie! I try not to eat it more than once a week, but sometimes I get the craving and just can't help it. Yes I am aware it is bad for me. Eating bad is probably the worst habit I have though. I don't smoke, I rarely drink, and I have never done any illegal drugs in my life. Therefore, if the occassional cheeseburger is what I crave, I don't see the problem with that :). If I ever eat so much that I can qualify to be on the "Biggest Loser",trust me I will stop cold turkey. However, my Wii fit still tells me that I qualify as "normal" when it comes to BMI, so I don't have to worry just yet. Now that all of that has been said, my topic for this week is:
"My 5 Favorite Fast Food Items"

1. McDonalds Fountain Coke
Have to Get the Diet Cokes! Pictures, Images and Photos
Let me state one thing right now. I am a Pepsi person. I rarely buy Coke, unless it is a great sale and even then I mostly just buy Cherry Coke. However, McDonalds somehow has the BEST fountain Coke! I don't know what makes theirs so much different than all the others that sell fountain Coke, but trust me it is. I go through periods where I will crave that every day and stop at Mickey D's just for an ice cold Coke. The fact that they are still only $1 is also a huge plus!
2. Qdoba
qdoba Pictures, Images and Photos
Okay well I can't narrow this place down to just one item. I LOVE everything I have ever had here. Everything is so fresh and "real" tasting. They also don't skimp on the toppings like Taco Bell does. They may cost more than Taco Bell, but it is very much worth it! I can barely eat at Taco Bell anymore since I started eating Qdoba.
3. Cookie Jar Blizzard from Dairy Queen
Dairy Queen Mini Blizzard Pictures, Images and Photos
Well I don't even want to know how many calories I am eating when I order one of these. I do get a small though! Whoever thought of this concotion is a genius! Oreo cookie pieces, cookie dough, fudge swirl, and twist ice cream! LOVE IT!!!! Order this almost everytime I stop at DQ!
4. McDonald's Chicken McNuggets
McDonald's Chicken McNuggets Pictures, Images and Photos
Back in the day when I was a kid and used to get the chicken mcnugget happy meals, I used to break them open to see which ones were actually white meat and which ones were the other weird ones with the random parts. Well a few years ago, McDonalds got a clue and started making all of their mcnuggets with just white meat. Now there is no need to look inside them before sticking them in your mouth. Every one is equally delicious!
5. McDonalds Filet O'Fish (tie)
Filet-o-fish Friday! Pictures, Images and Photos
McDonald's has the best fish sandwiches in my opinion. I don't know if its the steamed bun or the cheese, but no other fast food joints fish sandwichs can even come close in my opinion. If I am feeling really bad, I go ahead and spend the extra 30 cents for extra tarter sauce.
5.Subway Club (tie)
Subway Club Sandwich Pictures, Images and Photos
Okay yes I know I cheated this week by having six, but I just remembered the Subway Club after typing up the filet o'fish. I used to work at Subway and would eat there every single time I worked and never got sick of it. My favorite sub to eat would have to be the Subway Club though. Ham, turkey, roast beef, provolone cheese, light mayo, mustard, tomato and pickle! Can't beat it. The fact that it is the newest $5 footlong makes me uber happy too!!!

Well there ya have it! Some of my guiltiest pleasures! What are some of your favorite fast food selections? Oh yea and don't forget to enter the giveaway!!! Just scroll down and you will find a link to it in the entry below!

My 5 Monday!!

My 5 Monday is back!!!! YAY!!! So I am having trouble thinking of topics for this little segment I have so feel free to post any ideas you may have for me in a comment below!! If you do, make sure you bounce back to yesterdays posting for the CSN giveaway and get yourself another entry! So as some of you may know from previous postings, I am sorta addicted to Friends. Actually, I am really addicted to it. If they had a support group, I would be a member. I have the entire series and have watched all the eppys numerous times. I wasn't a big fan of seasons 1&2, but 3-10 I LOVE!! Up until recently, I would watch at least 2 episodes everynight while getting ready for the day or getting ready to go to bed. The "Deadliest Catch" series has replaced that in the last few months, but until season 6 comes out for that, I am all caught up so its probably going to be time for Friends once again! I have tried to think of my favorite episodes of that show and can't narrow it down to less than 20 most likely. I think I have multiple favorites from every season. It is just way too hard to choose. So for this week's "My 5 Monday", the topic is:
"My 5 Favorite Friends Moments"

1. The one with Ross' couch
This obviously was actually the blopper, but all the videos I was finding on YouTube had their code embedding disabled. I thought this was even funnier though. Seriously everytime I watch this part I crack up laughing. The way he says "PIVOT" over and over again just cracks me up. I also love when he tries to return it to the store and it is in two pieces!

2. The one with Ross' tan
Okay well this is just hilarious. This eppy actually freaked me out so much I still haven't been able to try spray tanning. Love the way he counts so slow and then says "I'M AN 8". I honestly don't know why he even bothered counting and didn't just turn around when it stopped spraying, but that obviously wouldn't be as funny.

3. The one with the game
I loved everything about this little game of theirs. When they watch the coin fall to the table without calling it, the excitement while they are playing, the funny questions, and the fact that the question they lost to was what Chandler's job was since that was a long standing joke through the series.

4. The one where Ross plays the bagpipes
Once again a blooper, but apparently YouTube is pretty protective of their Friends clips. Hilarious yet again though! Ross sure had some of the funniest moments on the show. He was so smart and yet did some of the stupidest things. Like the one with the couch, I laugh everytime I watch this part, especially listening to Phoebe just shriek along with him.

5. The final episode
Well this episode was hilarious and sad all in one hour. Loved when the babies were born and they found out there were two of them, loved the sign Joey made and then the one that Mike made for the babies that was so much more elaborate, loved that they had the baby chick and baby duck that ended up in the foosball table causing them to have to break the table to get them out, and my favorite part is the scene above when Rachel gets off the plane and everything ends happily ever after!!!

So obviously those are just five of my favorite moments. I also loved all the Thanksgiving eppys, Rachel and Ross' Vegas wedding, Chandler and Monica's proposal, the one with all the resolutions, Chandler and Monica's wedding, the birth of the triplets, the one where no one is ready, the Halloween party episode where Chandler is dressed up like a bunny, and so many more. If they ever come out with a Friends movie, I will be there to see it the first night it's out!
What are some of your favorite moments from Friends? Anyone else (besides Becca and Jess) obsessed with the show like me? Make sure to post suggestions in your comments for next's weeks topic and then go get yourself another entry into the giveaway!!!

My 5 Monday!!!

Happy Monday all! Can you believe it is already October? I sure can't! Well now that the fall season has started, that means all kinds of new shows and returning shows. Which also means I'm not killing the time by watching random reality shows. Have you seen how many reality shows are out there? I am pretty sure there is one about everything these days. I think I am going to find someone to follow and make a show about them and then sell it to some network. Seriously, they have one about EVERYTHING!! Now I haven't watched most of them because I honestly don't think I could handle them. That being said though, I did think "Deadliest Catch" seemed like something I would never watch in a million years and now I am obessed with it, so I won't knock the shows too bad until I've at least tried to watch them. Of course I am assuming that "Deadliest Catch" also led to "Whale Wars", "Lobsterman" and "Swords" being made since they are all pretty similar. All of the above are at least about people who have dangerous jobs, so of course that helps with the drama and entertainment factor. Some professions I am actually amazed they make shows about though. That being said, this week's topic is:

"My 5 WTF?! Reality Shows"

1. Groomer Has It

Groomer Has It Pictures, Images and Photos

Okay I have never watched an eppy of this show, nor do I ever care to. Apparently the premise though is twelve dog groomers live together and compete to find out who the best groomer in the country is. The winner then gets $50,000 and a "mobile grooming salon". Sounds exciting doesn't it? Turns out this show only lasted two seasons. Although I would have never thought a show about dog groomers would be made at all so kudos to them for lasting that long!

2. Pawn Stars

Pawn-Stars Pictures, Images and Photos

I found this one one day when I was browsing through the on demand selections. Turns out I actually know people that watch this one. This show is about the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas. Apparently it is described by TV Guide as a mixture of Antiques Roadshow, Cops, and LA Ink. If that's not a variety I don't know what is. Must be a pretty interesting pawn shop though, because I can't picture any of the local ones around me being the center of an entire TV show. This show has had three seasons so far. Take that "Groomer Has It"!

3. Billy the Exterminator

Billy Pictures, Images and Photos

Billy Bretherton is the owner of a pest control located in Louisiana. I have actually seen bits and pieces of this show when one of my patients have been watching it. This one actually does look like it might be intriguing. Also, Billy apparently tries to relocate the captured pests first, which I guess is a lot easier to watch than if her were killing them all. I might actually have to give this one a try. If I ever see one about bugs though, I will be turning the channel right away!

4. American Pickers

American Pickers Pictures, Images and Photos

This show, like "Pawn Stars", also airs on The History Channel. I guess since they are dealing with old stuff, it qualifies as "history". "Pickers" follows around two friends as they travel around the country, basically garbage picking. Just like "Pawn Stars" I would have never expected to have a show made about this "occupation". To each his own though, and if they can turn trash into treasure, more power to them!

5. Mall Cops

mall cops Pictures, Images and Photos

I think this show rates right up there with "Groomer Has It" for the WTF award. Mall Cops follows the daily happenings of the security guards (or mall cops) at Mall of America. I guess they were inspired by "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" when they made this show. Who would have thought!? Now I have never been to Mall of America, but I understand that it is a pretty big mall. Apparently there is also enough action and excitement happening there to fill an entire TV show. I think I may go there one day soon just to people watch and see if anything happens that makes it on the show. Ya never know!!

Well there ya have it. The five shows that made me say to myself "WTF?!?" when I saw their titles and descriptions. Have any of you watched any of these shows? What shows make you think to yourself "WTF?!"?

(I obtained my information from Wikipedia. Very helpful!)

My 5 Monday!!

This week's My 5 is all about traveling. I LOVE traveling. I wish I could go on vacation every year. For 3 years in a row I did, but no vacationing this year :(. Maybe next year though. This weeks My 5 is:

"My 5 Places I Want to Visit Before I Die"

1. Hawaii

Hawaii shadow palm beach Pictures, Images and Photos

Seriously who doesn't want to go to Hawaii. Every time I see pictures of it or see it on the screen I wish I were there. Beautiful weather, gorgeous beaches, friendly people....PARADISE!!! I also really want one of those beautiful leis they give you when you get off the plane!'

2. Tahiti

TAHiTi Pictures, Images and Photos

If you want my reasons for wanting to visit here just read the above about Hawaii. Basically all the same reasons. I remember seeing Ali travel there on this past season of  "The Bachelorette" and I was completely jealous (for more reasons than one). It just looks so relaxing!!

3. Australia

Trip to Sydney Pictures, Images and Photos

Well I guess I should've been in Oprah's audience a couple weeks ago and this trip would've actually happened. So envious of those people by the way!! Australia is one of the only countries I would want to travel to honestly. The people seem very friendly, they have great accents, and it just seems such a nice continent. Lots of kangaroos and koala bears too I hear!! This is probably the least likely place I will actually make it to, but I can still dream right!!

4. Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World Pictures, Images and Photos

So I have never been to Disney before. Seriously. Even though I am in my twenties, I still want to go there though. C'mon now its called the "happiest place on Earth" how could I NOT want to visit there. I am sure I won't be going there until I have some kiddies of my own, but rest assured, I will make it there one day!! Oh yea, and I will also TOTALLY ride the Dumbo ride no matter how old I am when I go there!!

5. New York City in the fall/winter

Central Park Pictures, Images and Photos

Tree at Rockafeller Center Pictures, Images and Photos

So I have been to NYC twice in the spring and I LOVE it! I wish I could go there every year. There is so much to do and even though I have been there twice in the last few years, I still haven't been able to do it all. I soo want to go there in the fall so I can see Central Park with all the gorgeous colors and catch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in person. I want to go in the winter so I can see Rockefeller Center ice rink with the GORGEOUS trees and I might as well just stay until New Years Ever so I can watch the ball drop in person with Ryan Seacrest and Dick Clark. I will do this one day before I die!!!

Well my lovelies, where do you want to make it to before you leave this Earth???

My 5 Monday!!

Ahhh fall is in the air here in Michigan. I actually really like fall. I didn't so much back when I was younger and it meant school was starting again, but now that I am old and all I love when fall arrives. Here in the great mitten state, everybody loves when spring arrives. We then all enjoy summer for a good month or so and then its way too humid for anyone's liking. This summer was especially hot and humid with temps being in the 90's a good portion of the season. That being said I am so happy that fall is here. Therefore, this weeks topic for My 5 Monday is:

My 5 Favorite Things About Fall!

1. Cooler temps= HOODIES!!!
Hollister Pictures, Images and Photos
Call me crazy, but I just love my hoodies. I have about 20 of them I'm sure so now that temps are in the 50's and 60's I can actually wear them. I love being able to go outside and feel that cool crisp air and be completely comfortable in a hoodie and jeans. I won't be so much a fan when I have to wear hoodies and winter jackets and am still freezing though. I'm going to enjoy my hoodies and jeans while I can!!

2. FOOTBALL!!!!
Michigan football Pictures, Images and Photos
Well I love me some Detroit Tigers, but since it is clear they aren't getting into the post season this year I love me some football! Being from Michigan, I can't be such a huge fan since my hometeam is never all that great, but I still love watching football games. Back in my high school days, my favorite thing about Friday nights was hitting up the high school football game. Now that I am in my twenties, I don't go to actual games anymore, but still love watching the Michigan Wolverines play on TV. Starting off pretty great this season too with a 3-0 record. Unfortunatley my Lions keep getting screwed somehow. I still say they won that first game and I'm sticking to it!!

3. Colorful Leaves

I just love when the leaves turn to their pretty orange, yellow and red. I kinda hate when they all fall off and we are forced to look at bare trees for 5 or 6 months, but when they are still on and different colors it is absolutely gorgeous!!

4. Halloween
Happy Halloween Pictures, Images and Photos
Well I am too old to go trick or treating, too scared to go to haunted houses, and don't have any kids of my own to get all dressed up yet, but I still quite enjoy Halloween. I love the decorating and the fact that I can eat as much candy as I want and tell myself its okay because its Halloween and thats what you are supposed to do. I also love handing out candy to all the adorable trick or treaters.

5. Thanksgiving/ Black Friday

Okay so let me be honest. I do love getting together with the family and eating a great big delicious dinner on Thanksgiving. I'm not gonna lie though, after eating all that great food my favorite thing to do is to head into the living room and start looking through the paper at all the Black Friday ads. Actually, I look at the ads first thing that morning when I wake up. I have been going shopping on Black Friday with my mom and sister since I was about 8 years old and I LOVE it. I look forward to it every year. I actually start counting down the months left till Black Friday in about July or so. We usually wake up around 4 and head out sometime around 5 am. This year though I may be brave and do the all night and all day shopping. You can count on a blog post about all my great deals from that day too!!

There ya have it. My 5 favorite things about this lovely season of Fall. What are some of your favorite things.

My 5 Monday!!

This week really took some thinking for "My 5 Monday". I decided to continue my time with nostalgia and have this weeks theme be"

"My 5 Posters I Had on My Wall As A Child/Teen"

1. Jonathan Taylor Thomas
Jonathan Taylor Thomas Pictures, Images and Photos
Well my wall was COVERED in posters of him from the years of about 93-98. I had just about every single poster from every single magazine he had been in. Also owned most of the big ones that you buy at the store. I basically made wallpaper with him.

2. Devon Sawa

Whatever part of my wall wasnt covered in JTT during my elementary/middle school years was covered in Devon Sawa. I LOVED him. My bestie Becca and I would fast forward and rewind the movie "Casper" to the end just so we could see the 5 minute part that he was actually in. Also loved "Little Giants" and you can imagine how ecstatic I was when "Wild America" came out and I could watch my two crushes in the same movie! Becca even called up the love song station one summer night back in 1996 and dedicated "Remember Me This Way" to him. Ahhh to be a pre-teen!!

3. O-Town
O-Town Pictures, Images and Photos
Okay so let me be honest and say that I LOVED boy bands back in the late 90's/ early 00's. I preferred Nsync over BSB, but then O-Town came around and they were my all time fav. Now many of you may not remember O-Town, but they were pretty big in the beginning of the millenium. The fact that they starred in a reality show was basically the icing on the cake for me. I actually have all three seasons on VHS still! I think all these guys were adorable, but I think Dan and Erik mighta been my favs!!

4. Justin Timberlake
Shirtless Justin Pictures, Images and Photos
Well JT made an appearance on my wall later in my teens. JTT and Devon had to come down and they were replaced by this exact poster. He still is just as hot as he was back when he was hanging on my wall! If I weren't so old, he would totally be there still!

5. The OC
The O.C. Pictures, Images and Photos
Well I was completely in love with this show when it came out. I also loved that the added the word "The" to the beginning of almost everything. Just like JT, this poster was also on my wall during my late teens. Thank God for TV on DVD so I can still watch this show whenever I please!!

Well there ya have it! The people that decorated my walls for a good 10 years or so. Who did you have on your wall when you were a kid/teen??

My 5 Monday!!

This week I am going to continue with some of my favorite things from when I was a child. This week's theme will be:

"My 5 Favorite TV Shows When I Was a Child"

1. Home Improvement
Home Improvement Pictures, Images and Photos
I was pretty obsessed with this show when I was younger for one reason: Jonathan Taylor Thomas, or as I used to call him JTT. I thought he was the cutest thing ever. Actually Zachary Ty Bryan was pretty cute too so there was two reasons for me to love this show. I am pretty sure I never missed an eppy though and I recently started buying the DVDs. I obviously am not still obessed with "JTT", but I still love the show. Actually, I love it even more now that I understand the jokes. Oh yea I did always like that the show took place in Michigan too and they would always wear Michigan team clothing. Still love that!

2. Boy Meets World

Well if TGIF wasn't the best thing on TV when I was growing up, I don't know what was. This show happened to be in the TGIF lineup for its entire duration I do believe. Is there anyone that grew up in the 90's that didn't love this show? Every character had something great about them; Cory and Topanga's relationship, Shawn's angst, Eric's dumbness, Mr. Feeny and the parents trying to keep them in line. Oh and then they graduated and went to college and hottie Matthew Lawrence joined the show for the rest of the series. Whats not to love?!

3. Full House

Well this has to be the cheesiest show from the 90's. I still loved it though. I find it funny that even as a kid I thought it was cheesy. I thought there was no way that sisters could get along as well as the three of them did. It's funny to see all the cast members now though. Bob Sagat is apparently a very raunchy comedian, John Stamos is still acting and still as hot as he was twenty years ago on this show, and of course the Olsen twins are all grown up and, for the most part, staying out of trouble. Not hurting for cash at all either. It amazes me that this show is still on in syndication and a whole new generation is watching it and loving it!

4. Rescue 911
Rescue 911 Pictures, Images and Photos
Okay did anyone else ever watch this show? I seriously was only about 7 years old and I LOVED it! I actually wish it were still on because I would totally be watching it. This show actually taught me a little about what to do in an emergency too. Let's see I remember watching a little boy sit down on an esculator and then his jacket got sucked into the belt which in turn led him to get sucked in. That taught me never to sit down on one of those. I also remember an eppy where a little girl grabbed a knife from her kitchen so her babysitter could open something up and she ended up stabbing her little brother right in the stomach with a butcher knife. GREAT show! Oh and I remember William Shatner from this show and nothing else lol.

5. Saved By The Bell
saved by the bell Pictures, Images and Photos
Okay who didn't watch this show growing up? I am pretty sure everyone did! What amazes me is that this show was a Saturday morning show and I don't think it has ever gone out of syndication. If you want to watch it now, you just have to turn on TBS in the mornings and voila, there it is! Just like Home Improvement, I am pretty sure I have seen every eppy at least five times and I will still watch it if I see it on. I honestly don't see this show ever going off TV, even though the cast members are all close to 40 now. One of the best high school shows ever!! Although I'm not going to lie, I was kinda disappointed when I went to high school and there were no nerds with pocket protectors running from the jocks. Actually I am disappointed there was no Zack or Slater either!!

Well there you have it. My 5 favorite shows when I was a kiddie. Just a little disclaimer by the way, I didn't include Friends in this list because I didn't fall in love with that show until I was in high school. That is no doubt one of my all time favorite shows though! What were some of your favs as a kid? Did anyone else watch Rescue 911???
